GUITAR, Leopoldo Saracino

He completed his musical studies under the guidance of Ruggero Chiesa at the Conservatorio G. Verdi in Milan, where he graduated with top marks.

He later refined his skills under David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia, Leo Brouwer, and David Tanenbaum. He has won awards in several international competitions. His concert career, which began when he was 14, has led him to perform in Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Greece, Canada, and Germany.

He has collaborated with the Borciani Quartet, the Divertimento Ensemble, and the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala. He performed Bruno Bettinelli’s guitar concerto under the baton of Daniele Gatti.

He has recorded the complete works for guitar and fortepiano by Ferdinando Carulli (in eight CDs), as well as chamber works by Filippo Gragnani and Anton Diabelli. He also made the first complete recording of Luigi Legnani’s 36 Caprices.

In recent years, he has also dedicated himself to the theorbo for basso continuo, collaborating with various early and Baroque music ensembles.

Deeply interested in contemporary music, he works regularly with the Dedalo Ensemble. Recently, he released two monographic CDs for Da Vinci, devoted to the guitar works of Ferdinand Rebay.

An upcoming release (also for Da Vinci) will feature a CD dedicated to selected works by Luigi Legnani. He holds the guitar professorship at the Milan Conservatory and teaches at the "Antonio Guarnieri" School in Casatenovo.
