Martina Rudic, born in Zagabria, Croatia, started her cello studies at the Music School of Belgrade. After having moved to Italy, she continued her studies under the guidance of Christian Bellisario, and in June 2001 completed her diploma with full marks at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Como.
Martina continued her studies at the “W. Stauffer” Academy of Cremona and specialization in chamber music with Rocco Filippini at the “S. Cecilia” Academy of Rome. In 2006, she completed the second level academic diploma in baroque cello at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory of Milan. Martina has also taken part in various masterclasses held by M. Kliegel, A. Kniazev, E. Schoenfield, E. Dindo, K. Georgian, A. Liebermann and C. Richter.
Martina has won first prizes at the International Competition of Stresa, in the solo category (1995) and in the chamber music category (1995, 1996). She has also won various prizes in national competitions in the ex-Yugoslavia. In 2005, she was one of the finalists at the International Chamber Music Competition ‘M. Fiorindo’ of Turin, playing in duet with the piano.
Martina has collaborated with various orchestras: the ‘G. Verdi’ Symphony Orchestra of Milan, the Orchestra Stabile of Como, the UECO Orchestra of Milan, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Milan Conservatory (where she had the role of the principal cellist in 2003 and 2004). In 2004, Martina passed the audition for the ‘Mahler Jugend Orchester’ directed by Claudio Abbado. She has collaborated on a number of occasions with the Italian Lyrics and Concert Association (Associazione Lirica e Concertistica Italiana, As.Li.Co) for the ‘Opera domani’ project.
